i resently picked up a 86 supra comp and i noticed that the rudder is offset of center whats up with that?
VS SN that run center

that is to counter the rotation of the prop. Otherwise with a prop always spinning to the left, the boat would pull to the left all the time. It still does a little bit but the offset rudder helps a lot.

In the manual for the 86 Sunsport it says "offset rudder for shaft removal and torque-free turning"

Some other brands have a notch or little tabs or some other device to correct for the effect.

I was looking at other rudders for other brands of older boats, and I THINK mine is way larger than some that are shaped more like a nike swoosh (for lack of better term). I am impressed by how well the SunSport tracks and how effective the extra deep vee is. I have not personally been in another boat with a vee that is this deep. The ride in chop is really smooth.
