Depth Gauge Not Working

My depth gauge is less than two years old. It constantly reads 359 ft deep then it will jump to anothe number for a long time. This is while I am in water no deeper than 50 feet. I checked the connections in the back and the puck tha reads depth is also intact, any ideas?

Did it ever work? Perhaps the puck is in the wrong spot? (I installed mine and it's never worked.)

where's the puck installed? doesn't sound like there's air under it or you'd have no reading.

Basically in the center of boat just behind transmission. It worked last year and I put it in new. It sits right next to were old puck was. I wanted it on fresh fiberglass, old puck epoxy was hard to remove.
