Trying to figure out how filter works. I have a fuel filter/water seperator? It is one or both, its inline with fuel line. It has what look like a washer and nut on bottom. The whole round piece does not screw off like normal filters. If I loosen the nut gas leaks out. Do I pull it apart and clean it or what. I dont like pulling something apart until I know how it works. Any help would be great.

Saltare I
If you have a Fram filter orange top black bottom there is a bolt and copper washer in the center of the top cap. Remove the bolt and the lower cup will come off . The filter is inside
the cup. The pic shows the filter and Fram part number

Thanks Michael. Is that auto parts store find or online? Is it just a fuel filter, not a water seperator?

Use the Fram number on the filter. Just go to the auto parts store its about $10 or Skidim
has it for $11. The water separator part is the lower cup the water will sink to the bottom of the cup. With the large size of the filter it doesn't have to be changed very often maybe every 200 hours.

i trashed my old fram stuff. fram doesn't have a good reputation for filters. you can get the replacement filter at skidim.

i added one of these instead

That looks like a good filter too . The fram has been working for 20 years
I just replaced the third filter. No signs of water in it I cut the filter element
apart no significant dirt or particles inside.

You can get that filter from your local NAPA auto parts store! They also have a lot of marine engine parts a a lot cheaper than a marine store!
