Wow....its really not my year guys! Ok so I took the boat out for the first time after work Yesterday and it ran ok at best. Top speed was fine and the engine sounded fine. But getting out of the hole was terrible! It took a good 40sec for the boat to get up to speed to plane. I would give it throttle and it would only sputter a very very little bit and then just gradually climb in rpm's. Think the carb needs a good cleaning? any sugestions?

Mikey....I havn't changed the ignition yet....just changed the points. Idles fine (after its warm), and once it gets up to speed it runs fine......

i think you should start a more orderly process of eliminating the cheap and easy stuff and work toward the more expensive fixes.

make sure your tune up was done properly...points, plugs, cap...all of it
check timing
carb issues
distributor

is the bottom of the hull clean? prop too? most of this stuff is regular maintenance anyway.

i'd hold off on the conversion until you have it running good or you could end up with more than 1 problem.
