I am trying to rebuild my trans but cannot get the snap ring to stay in on the ring gear. This snap ring keeps the clutch in place. The manual calls for a .090 thickness snap ring for it. I cannot get it to stay in place. I have taken it to three transmission re builders I know and they are clueless on how to make it stay. I have an older 70C and it is the same way. I know their must be some trick to getting this to stay in place. I have tried thinner shap rings also. As small as .065 and they will not work! Any help would be appreciated!
