Well here we are - we've waited all week for a good weekend to hit the river and the rain and storms are spoiling it. On the Ohio River, the storms wash all the tree crap from the streams into the river and then it takes time for the river to clean itself out. Not to mention all the mud . . . . .

It is wretched hot and humid here. 97 degrees with 103-104 degree heat index. Water temp is perfect though. I'm I'm out, we will be anchored and in the water.

send that rain down here!!

lake travis is losing a foot a day to evap and irrigation for farmers downstream....that puts it 25' below normal.

most of the ramps are closed and they're talking about closing 2 of the 4 lanes that can still reach down that far.

this is from the local news...

those 'islands' are normally underwater. if you look at the point of land to the upper right of the pic, you can see the normal shoreline. those are cars parked on the sand below it. that's a county park, the walk to the water is too far now.

We had that problem in the Great lakes! Our levels are still down but not that bad! I think we are 10' below normal levels! So why isn't Global warming melting those ice caps and raising our levels?!?!?!? hhhmmmmm.....

River's a bit muddy here but tolerable, so we made a go of it. Except when I got there the ramp and part of the river were closed because the police were looking for a body from a boat that capsized yesterday. I could have gone to another ramp, but after looking closely at the river and all the mud, not to mention the wind, we decided to bag it. Maybe later this week . . . . . . .

75 and clouds sounds like awesome weather to me. Those are the type of days I love. Not too many "Fair weather boaters" on the water, especially the ones that traditionally chop up the water.
