I was going to replace the carpet in our Supra Beast with Mahagony planking. Has anyone done this yet? I have installed many teak and holly flooring in cruisers but nothing like solid planking in a runabout. What are your thoughts? Just a note, this boat has not and have no plans to leave outside overnight, after using we put back into the shop each evening and wipe down. Allan

I think it would be awesome. A ski/dance boat. Moblie dance floor you can run 25 off. Why not go for it, if you can dream it do it.

yeah sounds pretty cool, I've got all sorts of wood accents dreamt up if I ever get the time....For a carpenter it's easier to replace with wood than to upholster!!! And I don't mind the maintenance!

I have all of the material in the shop, If I went with teak, which would be nice, I would have to order in. I have plenty of teak and holly panels but we do like to ski and knee board alot which means water on the floor and the panels would not take much of that. Mahagony is very easy to work with and will last for years. I will try to install after the 4th, I could use alot more motor hatch clearance for my big block 496.

I found a supply of 1/2" X 2 1/2" teak, $150 for 45 sq ft. I bought 2 bundles for $300 shipped. I am going to start oiling the boards this week to start the procedure of installation. I will get some pics and have my son upload as soon as we get it done. Al

Oh wow. I bet that's gonna look fantastic. Very good price on the teak as well. Please post pics of how it looks when you're done. I've seriously considered this as an alternative to new carpet.

I would like to see this also..
I am bringing an 85 Sunsport back to life and I am making a LOT of changes to it... That would be a very interesting idea...

Better yet >> I live in Texas and I know of a Mill that makes Mesquite flooring material... I wonder how that would look?

Mesquite would look great. Just be carefull your friends might pull some out of the boat on the beach to cook a steak.
