I have been shopping around for props and found that the Ambush props are almost 200 bucks less than an OJ or Acme. Anyone had any experience with Ambush?

I'm sure they are a fine prop. After just a couple mins of research they appear to be cast props vs CNC. Made by Michigan Propellor which is a reuptable company in the i/o world for sure. The Ambush IV 4 blade appears to be an entry into the Xtreme category of WaKebOaRdInG. :) They are claiming they have a high quality composite brass alloy and that cast prop technology has improved. I'm sure both facts are true. I do not see them being priced any less at the first two stores I saw ($440 and $520). How much is $200 less? If you can get it for $150 that is a great deal. My ACME was $350.

CNC is suppossed to be more accurate but there's nothing wrong with my stock prop. I'm sure you can make a cast prop in a 13x10.5 for wakeboarding and I bet it works great. But you want a 3-blade for sure if the stock diam is 13" and trans is 1:1.

I thought most props including my OJ were cast, then machined.

Well yeah but I think ACME is cast bigger than needed and then CNC'd to be accurate while these are cast in the final shape, they are not machined. I assume they are balanced, though.

The NEW and IMPROVED Ambush ski boat propellers are 100% CNC machined for the ultimate in accuracy and consistency. A new 4 Blade is $354.00

I checked last night and my stock diameter is 13 but i have a 1:23:1 tranny. Does that make a difference for a 3 or 4 blade?

To be honest I'm not totally sure. I would call (insert your favorite prop company here) and they will tell you for sure.

They sure are shiny :)

I dunno if they are the same price as ACME I would stick to tried and true

I'm pretty sure that's right

Memmer I would think with a 13" diam you would still want a 3-blade. But with a gear reduction trans they would probably recommend something different for you. Gear reduction is good.

I know you're not the guru on this, but I've discovered(with a better swim mask) I've got a 14 X 16 cup prop, gear reducing tranny, still thinking it's a bit too torquey, I'm going to have to make some calls......
