180 temp with 160 thermostat?

Any reason why my 05 21v runs around 180 and the thermostat does not kick in til above 180? We bought the boat used 2 seasons ago and can't remember it running under 180. Just curious.

Have you changed the impeller ? I change mine every other season and sometimes seasonally

oh didn't notice the "thermostat does not kick in til above 180" I also change my thermostat every 2-3 seasons but mine is a 91 that may make a difference

is 180 on the gauge? you might try an IR temp gun to verify that
