Hey guys. I am wondering if anyone knows of a DIY tower kit? I have a 1987 supra sunsport.

I'm kinda toying with this idea right now....so far I've got my tape measure out and made some decisions on tubing and what towers I'd like to take design idea's from.....If it's DIY you're really on your own....

There is a web site that sells a kit that has all the feet, rubber bolts etc. All you need is tubing welding and your design. I think its DIYwake.

If I was buying a tower, I'd be going for a Monster MT2.

I have a DiyWake tower on mine and I love it, the MT2 towers are F-ing sick though

I love my MT1 but in retrospect I would get an MT2 since it's taller and style is more up-to-date.

Diywake.com has parts to build your own tower. If you had axcess to bender and such you would save some money. If I wanted a new tower I would go to a boat dealer and buy a tower off one of their boats. They are needing money right. Probably wont sell but you never know. atleast you can have them say your crazy.

Is the mt2 easy to install yourself?

Yeah they are all pretty much the same. Some have four tower-feet, some have six (obviously four is less holes and less work). You cut a backing plate from plywood that is about 4" wide x 12" long for inside the gunwale.

There is a guy on WakeWorld classifieds right now selling towers for $550 if you measure the distance between where your front two legs would go and where the back to legs would go. I can show you a pic of mine.

What kinda tower you need depends on your needs. If you use a boat lift you might need a tower that collapses flat like the Monster. If not, you could save more money.

Also don't forget about brands BigAir ($700) and Joystick (Joyst have the cheapest tower that I would consider quality, reliable, and been around for a long time the rollbar).

Also the Monster Tower DIY website has some great links

Here is one that I build about 5 or 6 years ago... I still run that boat and the tower work great!
I think I spent $250 total on it.

Hardest part was just trying to get the angles figured out... After I knew what I wanted it was just busy work.

Nice work oilguy - that's a great looking tower. I checked out the DIYWAKE site that somebody posted on this thread. It looks like they have everything you need to do the job excepth the tubing. Makes one think about building a custom tower . . . .

Thanks for the response. This is a BIG help. 87sunsportMikeyd you say that you have a mt1, I have the same boat but teal, how much head room do you have when standing on the floor? I am 6'1 and so is just about everyone that rides in my boat.

I am only 5'8" so I have no trouble under the tower, BUT when I hang speakers and put a bimini under the speakers, I cannot stand up all the way. My 6' friends bump their heads all the time. If you can get the MT2 go for it, it is over a foot taller and I would totally recommend it.

Oilguy that is a very impressive job!!

I am 6 1 and I do not hit my tower. With speakers. It is a air boom.

Thanks..
If I do one again I am going to use SS or Aluminum

I will probably buy one though >> I like the "Krypt" brand >> I think they look more like the Supra tower but without the supra price. Every once in a while I catch on on Ebay for around $800-900 with shipping.
