I was reading the thread about stringer replacement and all the talk about adding ballast tanks. For those of us with older boats (mine is an '88 Mariah) shouldn't we be concerned about adding too much weight. How much ballast are you talking about adding under the deck? My weight rating (people and gear) is only around 1400 lbs. Aren't we running a risk of swamping and sinking the boat if significant ballast is added?
