Best color restore

My '89 SunSport needs some buffing on the gel coat to bring back some of the color and shine. What do you guys recommend? It is not real bad but clearly needs some work, the color is getting dull.

I used 3M Heavy Duty Rubbing Compound, 3M Finesse It II Polish, and 3M marine wax.... time consuming but turned out amazing!

I did the same as wotan. There is a thread on here about the gelcoat restoration I did with pictures. You may be able to skip the compound step if you think it doesn't need it. I actually started with wetsanding and went from there.
