Just realized my Sunsport's got an automotive distributor.
Anybody have a working marine distributor for a standard rotation 351?

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.... but there shouldn't be a difference. I've always used auto distributors in my marine applications.

Just replaced my carb with an Edelbrock 1409 and it doesn't have any vacuum ports and the distriburor is vacuum advance.

Thoughts on just getting a automotive mechanical advance distributor?

My mechanic told me this weekend that most high performance builders don't use vacuum advance on their carbs. He said the centrifigual force on HEI distributors causes them to automatically advance and the vacuum advance is only for a very slight gain in low-end performance.

Anyone else have any opinions/ideas?

marine dist should be shielded like an alternator. why not get electronic dist?

Thanks for the help guys, I was able to get a dist. from CCFAN for cheap.

Here's a useful bit of info. The only difference between a STD rotation distributor and a RT hand dist. is the gear, which can be changed easily.
