Im needing a different prop, loading my 05 22ssv with a ton of weight is making it struggle hard..

Any suggestions for an aftermarket prop for good low speed and out of the hole power?

I use a 14.25 X 14 OJ and ACME on my 05 22 SSV and think it does much better than stock for boarding and hole shot as well as fuel usage. Lost about 5-7 mph on top end, but that is not what our boats are for :) I love it when people that don't know much about boats give you a compliment on how nice your boat looks and then say "I bet it goes fast!" and then the look on their face when you tell them it has 340 HP, but won't do more than 40, eheheh.

I went with the Acme 1235 14.5 x 14.25..

I will be testing her out this weekend.. Man, I hope it does better than the stock OJ.. lol..

Sluggo that is awesome I think you worded it just perfectly.

NICE! Where did ya get it from? What was the stock prop?

Funny thing about this conversation. The local MasterCraft dealer thinks my
14 x 14.25 is not hte right prop for my boat. (local Supra dealer gone,
Indmar is using this shop for warranty). I tend to trust this guy, as I have
had a relationship with him for several years as a sponsor of an event that my
wife and I put on - and I know several people he has sold boats to.

He works with his boat owners after the sale to ensure they have the best
setup possible. However, he's claiming I should have more like a 12.75 x 16
for where I live (5200 ft elevation) and the kind of boating I do.

But -when I go to most any website, they talk about the 14 x 14.25 being
the right prop for my boat - especially with ballast (which I rarely use).

what gives? I own 2 of these expensive little mothers (props) and wonder if
he's right. He will let me try one out if I want to - but what is anyone else
thinking here? I hear you guys on this site wanting to change props FROM the
type he's suggesting - and moving more towards what I have.

I am fairly new to Inboard props (had an IO for 11 years) .. so went with what
Supra and my (now defunct) Supra dealer told me.

The altitude may play a role in prop performance. If you have an oppertunity to try out a different prop, you should take it. Theoretical data is nice, but actual data is what really counts! ;0)

Thats the one you need, you will notice a huge difference in low end torque and power. My boat wont go over 42 mph, but as you mentioned, they are not designed for top end speed.

Ive also been wandering this same thing. Im am having trouble telling the difference when its full or not, aside from how low the nose of the boat sits.

I have an 02 SSV and I just swapped my original prop (14 - 18) for an Acme 1433 (14 - 14.25). Before the swap I could only reach 42mph at 4600rpm. Now I reach the 4850rpm redline at 37.5mph.

I usually run more than 2500# of ballast for wakesurfing so I wantd a prop that will bring my rpm's up a little when running at 11mph. It just seemed to lug along before but now it is quiet and alot smoother running a couple hundred rpm's higher when surfing. Well spent money.

Todd I have the original 13.75 x 17.5 for when just BeeJay and I ride at our home lake. And a 14.25 x 14.5 prop for when we are at a fly-in with a lot of people on the boat and more weight in it. I think something in between would be good. I usually change props as needed.

Try one and let me know what you think.
