I am trying to tap into the turn on lead that come out of the back of the factory kenwood stereo head unit. Does anyone know what color that wire is? There is a wire labeled "p. Cont" coming out that is blue and white. Could this be continuous power?

the red wire should be switched power.
The yellow wire should be constant power
If there is a blue wire that isn't connected that is the power antenna wire that can be used to turn on a amp.

If you've got more than 2 things that you're turning on with that head unit remote wire, you'll need a relay.

I have always used relays
I currently have 3 amps in my car the switch is run on a relay.

Well the turn on was being used to turn on 2 amplifiers from the factory. It had no relay that I am aware of and I just added an equalizer, and am not having any problems. Do you still think I need a relay with just adding an equalizer?

I would. You might not have any problems right now.... but in the future, you never know. That deck isn't designed to supply enough amperage to turn on 3 things. It's designed to let a power antenna (which usually has a relay built in) to power up.

Anyone know of a good place to get one that would be farely cheap but work well with 3 outputs?

Radio shack has them or any auto parts store has a -- they are cheap. You'll only have 1 output but 2 inputs -- one +12v input goes to the battery, one goes to the remote turn on (switched) lead, and the output goes to all of the accessories you want to power. I'd also buy the socket that goes with them and make sure to ground it solidly.

Good luck!

Need to make sure its a SPDT (single-pole, double throw).
