Looking to have a battery charger/trickle charger installed on my 2008 24' Supra. Are there any recommendations you have. I currently have a trickle charger and am getting tired of hooking it up each time I put the boat up after each use. Looking for one that I can mount and then just plug it in.

What are you powering off your batteries that they are drained after every outing!? I've never had to charge the batteries as long as Ive had my boat. I have no tower speakers or sub and I dont have music on that much. You sure there isnt something more wrong?

Tamu, I never need this in the summer, I just use it during the winter months to keep
things topped off.

See the things in this post - came HIGHLY recommended.

I have not yet installed the "indicator" - not sure where to put it. But the charger
works great - when Spring was here - everything was nice and charged.

You guys DO realize that the alternator is less than 90A, so just running around will not keep the battery charged if you use the accessories a lot, especially if you have 2 batteries and the switch is on 1&2. I recommend an on-board charger no matter what.

I had a customer with a tri-toon call today saying he had to paddle to the dock last night because he'd left the light on too long. His battery had never been charged.

Tamu you can go to any parts store and pick one up. I've got 3 Stinger 6A/hr. on-board charger/maintainers on mine, but they're made specifically for the dry cell Stinger batteries, so they don't trickle charge, but shut completely off when the batteries are at 100%.

Here's how mine is setup.

Thanks for the responses, it gives me a direction to go. When I am not going to use my boat for a two week period that is when I hook up the trickle charger then I put one on during the winter months when the boat is not in use. What I have been told all of these years is that letting a battery charge continually go down will reduce the life of your battery.

I've got a 3-bank, 30amp that is similar to that. I've got 3 batteries (hence the 3 banks) and leave one of these plugged in any time the boat is out of the water. I believe that it tops of my starting battery first and then moves on to my accessory batteries. I had nothing but electrical headaches a few years back so I installed this, a 140amp alternator, and all 0-gauge (and 00-gauge) wiring.

Things have been happy ever since.
