Cover air vent

I have an 02 SSV and when we are wake surfing we take in a ton of water through the rear port air vent so I want to seal it off. I have moved my blower to the other side so it will still run.

Do you see any potential problems with this? Any ideas of how I should close up the vent.

I would think it is better than sinking. Maybe you can duct tape the vent and open the starboard locker when surfing.
