I want to compare how you all are weighting your boats for surfing. I have an 08 worlds 22 SSV. I do have the cooler and steps on the driver side. Please share your setups.

I have 750# sac in the right rear locker and 2 v-drive sacs on the seat and floor behind the the drivers seat (400# each). So, 1150#'s total with wake plate at 1/2 to 3/4 of the way up and running perfect pass around 2800-2900 rpms.

700 pounds in fat sacs behind drivers seat ,wake plate up 3/4 ,and 10.-10.5 mph.My rpm's are 1300-1500. you can drive straight and it willeasily will hold ya in ,even with a beer in your hand.I ride a 4'6 phase 5.

Wake beater,

I'm curious about your setup. Mostly about your low rpm's. Seems like I'm running 800 lbs more than you but my rpm's are much higher. What boat, prop and engine setup do u have?

I have a 91 mariah,21.5 ft,with a 454.I just have the stock 3 blade prop, but have really thinking about getting another ,low speed prop ,to see if i can drop those rpm's to 1000-1250.When i wakeboard at 24 mph i only run 1800-1900 rpms.So i basically burn the same gas surfin to wakeboarding, but my sets surfin are at least 20 mins.. would post pics but dont know how to resize image....

I have an '08 Sunsport 22V, I have the rear 750's with the front center 400 lb bags. The best formula I can find to get a surfable wake is fill the rear 750 full, and leave the front empty and get as many people back in the corner of the boat. I have never been able to get the non-goofy (port side) as good as the goofy-foot side. Even if I fill the front center 400 lb up it makes no difference in the wave for some reason, I cant figure it out.

For Goofy side I run - 10.6, wakeplate 1/4 down
For non-goofy (port) side I run - 11.0, wakeplate 3/4 down.

This seems to be the best I can find right now.

you need to have your wakeplate up so it pushes the rear down...if you put your wake plate down it will push the bow of the boat down,..

I have an 08 22 Launch with steps and cooler like yours.

I moved the front 750lb bag to the left rear and put the 400lb bag that was in the back up front(thanks to a tip from Phenom) and it works great. I also have a 225lb Sumosac under the port side seat right in front of the rear v-drive locker. I have my wakeplate at neutral. Running at 10.4 to 10.6 mph depending on how many people are in the boat.

I dont have a new boat, but I agree we keep the hydrolic wake plate at the MOST 1/4 down when heavily weighted.

You need more weight towards the back. I weight my 02 SSV like this boat (but on the port side) with the back locker full of ballast, a 750# sac on the seat and rear deck, a full GG sac in the center plus an extra 300# in the walkway. Something like 2500# total.

If the 750# sac is only on the seat the wake is not as good.

I have been using the plate because it seems to help make the wave a little more longer and rideable. If I put the plate all the way up it throws a steep wake with a small sweet spot to ride in. I dont like riding 2 feet off the platform, I prefer to be back 5-6 feet.

Guess I will have to keep adjusting the plate next time to see what I can come up with. I have no front bow weight under the seats, maybe this would help create a longer wave?

Yep once you add 2-300lbs to the bow (try and keep it to one side if possible), then you will have the size of pocket you are looking for. Can surf from 20' back all the way onto the platform w/ no rope. This is when the wakeplate really helps. About 1200lbs in back and 300lbs in front is all I use.
