Drive by wire?

Does anyone know if the '08 and newer boats are using the drive by wire? I really have no idea how to tell if my motor is drive by wire? It feels like a cable compared to my friends '09 Malibu which was buttery smooth compared to my Supra.

08's are drive by wire, however there is a cable that puts the transmission into and out of gear. All the throttle is controlled via the drive by wire though, so you should not have any sticky throttle movement, etc.
