I have a 1999 Supra Launch w/ the factory 3 blade prop. I want to get a 4 blade for better hole shot and power. What brand & configuration of a 4 blade prop should I buy?

Tough question! There are a lot of good props out there and everyone will give you different answers as to which is best. Most 4 blade props will give you good hole shot and speed handling characteristics for wakeboarding. A couple to try are the OJ 13x13 4 blade in either the nibral or stainless and the Cutter 13x13 4 blade in stainless. We offer these as options on our boats and should give you better performance. Good luck in your prop search.

Waterski Magazine reviewed 3 4-blade props and the Cutter Stainless came out on top.

I am also looking into a 4 blade. Is it regular or reverse rotation? And the size is 13x13? I am assuming the numbers are diameter by pitch?

Craig,
You are correct 13 x 13 means 13" diameter and a 13 pitch. We run the regular left hand rotation props. Nautique is about the only manufacturer using the right hand or reverse rotation.

My '90 Supra uses a 14x16x1 RH nibral prop. I have been told the replacement 4 blade prop is a 13x16x1 RH. OJ props has a cross-reference table on their web site. As to which brand is best, I don't know. If the new Supras are coming with the Cutter props, then that is good enough for me.

Other than holeshot, what advantage is the 4 Blade Prop? I am looking for something that will help when people are loading the line and cutting hard. I seem to drop speed quick that way. Will a 4 Blade help with this?

I just got a new ACME 4-blade and it couldn't be better. Very smooth and maintains speed much better than the OJ 3. The hole shot seems the same. The boat does slow down much faster when I let off the throttle.

I just bought an Acme 3-balde, used to have OJ 4-blade. I like the Acme much better, best of both worlds. The hole shot and speed holding are every bit as good as the OJ 4-blade if not slightly better. The top end is much better with the Acme, I run 200 rpm's less at boarding speeds too. Slow down didn't exist before compared to the Acme, reverse is even better.

This is a shot of my old and new props:

That's the 541 which is 11.5x13 I think.
