Here are a few Supra tricks that I've done to my boat and they worked well. And I wanted to show you. Post your tricks along with pic's so i can make my Supra better. Below you will see:

Riser fitting: drains the water from the risers after running the boat so they wont rust and will last longer.

DIY Cool Can: This holds ice and water and coools the gas down to make it more dense which makes more HP. The gas line goes in the top of the cooler (copper line inside) runs down through the icy water cooling the gas comes out of the bottom and returns cold gas to the carb. Its a old racing trick from my Street days.

Engine cover stops: These stop lines or wires were put on after rebuilding my floor and eng cover some years ago. the eng cover once opened (weighing 30-40 pounds) wouldn't stop untill it tried to rip out the hinge (which it did)
so i built these stops to release the pressure from the hinge, which has also been upgraded to a piano hinge the whole length of the eng cover.

Ice Chest led's: most of you have seen my thread of my sundeck/ice chest/fat sac holder. here are the led's added to it for night time. In each corner I have 12-light (white) leds added to each side of the ice chest. they are wired into the interior lights so they come on when the floor is lit up. I also added 2-more led's below the judges seat for floor lights, no pic's of that one..sorry.

4-Blade prop: let me just say if you don't have one..GET ONE! This is the newest 14" x 14" .105 cup (cupped for torque). I run 1000-1600 lbs in my boat and man is it a slug weighted down. Untill i bought this 4-blade. its like putting a super charger on the eng. I'm worried about the motor jumping off of It's mounts. the boat leaps out of the water like a Nitro boat. SPEND THE MONEY. it was one of the last things I did and it should of been one of the 1st.

I'm sure i have more of these but here are just a few of my "Supra Tricks". What tricks have you done? Postem!

Thanks for posting, awesome thread! I want to try that riser trick but I'm not sure that method would fit for me, the exhaust is really tight in there. Did you do the same to your engine block drain plugs?

I put in LEDs, a tower top nav light, Fresh Air Exhaust, a new 13x10.5" 3 blade prop, semi-auto custom ballast sys, and budget stereo (tower, interiors, sub, eq, 1 5ch amp).

All on my thread https://forum.supraboats.com/showthread.php?t=3630

Great thread, and you have some great ideas. I've been thinking about getting a hold of some red LED's for the cooler in my 24, I thought it'd be awesome at night because it would match the red dash lights.

That's great to hear about the prop too, may look into what kind of 4-blade may be recommended for my boat.

iWakeboard,

Check these out - they're cheap and bright - and come in lots of colors and lengths.
I have a blue set of these under the helm that lights up to match the blue
LED's (2 of the superbright blues from this same site into each cupholder)

I bought some of these (color coded, of course) to turn these bad boys on/off:

I call these my "bling lights" - I have a separate switch so I can turn them on
independant of the normal "white" cabin lighting

Those rope LED's are cool. If there is money left in our budget we've talked about doing some kind of rope lighting when we put the boat back together.

Look at my rebuild thread and you'll see what I'm up to. I'd venture I have the biggest winter project of this group...he he!

OkieBoarder, those LED strips are really pretty cheap, I think it was about $4 or $5 for about a foot long strip ...

I'll be sure to check 'em out. That would look good along the lip under the observer seat, rear seat, and along the teak rails on the sides of the top cap.

I was thinking of just two small LED's in there, these are pretty bright and are what I was thinking of using:

It seems those LED strips would be REALLY bright?

I like the packaging on those lights, iWakeboard. Gotta drill a BIG hole though.

The strip lights are pretty bright, but not blinding.

I used the "Superbright" lights from oznium.com for my cupholders. Each of them has
4 LED's in one package - and I put 2 into each cupholder. I didn't put them into
the drain hole - still wanted that to be functional. drilled 2 holes, then silicone'd them
in - in this photo, the silicone hasn't dried yet to clear...

I need to find the pictures of them lit up - and also the one with the 6" strip of
LED's so you can see how bright they are.

I don't see the lights in that cupholder? Am I missing something? haha. The lights that I posted above work extremely well in fiberglass or plastic. If you use the right drill-bit size you can just pop the LED in with the grommet and that's the extent of what you have to do except for hooking it up. I used one in my last boat in the fiberglass walk-thru up to the bow.

Also, what do you use to keep your cupholders down? I took my tower off at work a few months ago and had to take the cupholders out to do it, ever since then I can't get them to stay down as well as they did before. Did you use silicone? It's the ones up in the bow, in front of the winshield in the fiberglass.

Ah - I didn't put lights into those cupholders -- I was worried any LED in there would
impact my vision.

If I had to take them out, I would probably use silicone to put them back in though ...

iwakeboard that light looks nice but like todd said you have to drill a really big hole in your fiberglass. You can find lights that are much brighter and much smaller but still cheap. IMHO http://www.oznium.com/ is still the best and those 4 led chips or strips will blow away one normal LED or normal rope lighting. I would highly suggest getting a few prewired single 4-chips for cupholders or speaker grilles and a couple strips too for under drivers helm or gunwale cupholder area.

I'm not going to put any of these small LED's into the fiberglass, I'm actually going to put them at a higher part of the cooler on the stern and bow locations, so I have some light in there. I'll definitely look at those.

+1 for that hot water shower. I built mine a couple years ago very similar. For the shower end though I went to home depot and bought a $10 shower head with 6' hose on it. Just cut the end off and put that onto the barbed fitting coming out of my pump.

I wired a switch into the dash for it. The pump was strong enough that on the pulse setting of the shower head it actually pulsated!
