I was going to replace the factory speakers with a nice set of Eclipse speakers, but since the stock stuff is all one piece (grill and speaker), it's going to make things a little more difficult. Has anybody done this???

Thanks,

Dan

The only speaker that I replaced was the subwoofer in front of the driver on the 04 SSV. The 10" Kenwood sub is not in a true enclosure. I replaced it with an 8" bazzoka RS tube and it is now amazing in sound. I plan on buying a audiobahn tube ported enclosure for the 10" and hooking it up in parallel with the 8" sub for some real sound.

As for the normal speakers in the boat, I don't see why any speakers with a grill would not fit as a replacement unless the new speakers are not the same size as the old. The speaker grills should use the same holes that the factory speaker used. Do the speaker grills you are referring to use different holes than the speaker screw holes?

have you tried using a paper clip or something to grab the grill and pull it out? there has to be a way to access the screws. maybe they are the type that lock on by rotating a little.

new speakers will have new grills.

greenmonster, where and how did you put the tube? This sounds like a good option for me since my amp in full at the moment...
You mentioned under the dash, is it mounted to the front panel, the floor, or other?

The Gravity Games edition comes with a 10" sub mounted in a false wall in front of the driver. It is a vertical wall facing the driver. I have not looked at the regular SSV to verify if it is the same as the GG edition, but you can take the false wall out by unscrewing 4 long screws, 1 screw in each corner of the wall.

Pull the wall out and behind it there is plenty of room to place an 8" bazooka and also a 10" ported tube enclosure. Once you mount them to the floor and hook them up, you can screw the false wall back to it's factory location. My boat has a 10" speaker hole with a speaker grill on the false wall. I suggest doing this if yours doesn't have a hole in the false wall already. It helps the bass escape with a richer sound. I'm planning on replacing that 10" speaker grill with an Audiobahn chrome sun shaped grill for added effect.

That's perfect. I have the same false wall. I've never removed it before, but I will this w-end. Thanks for the pics...I'll let you know how it turns out.

I like the "brushed aluminum" finish on the gauges...sweet!

The flame grill that I mentioned for replacement of the white subwoofer grill in my picture is found here.

Imagine what that will look like when I install it. I think it will really add a nice touch to the "trickin out" of the boat.:)

Supra has done an excellent job on their color and chrome selection this year for their GG edition SSV. Here is a pic of my boat with the speakers up and the custom cover on ready to hit the water.
