Anybody else having this prob? Any rpm's under 1500 and my low voltage light and siren is going off. Its done this for years and i finally stuck some paper in the siren so I could still hear it somewhat but I didn't want to totally unplug it. Alt and charging is fine. Jet

Do you have an upgraded alt?

No, still original. but even a cheap alt should be charging well around 300-500 rpm's. Mine start the siren as soon as a rider drops and rpm's drop to 1500 rpm's. I really think the sensor is just to sensitive..can it be adjusted?

If you want you could totally call the guys at http://www.dbelectrical.com/Alternators/Marine/

They are so knowlegable and answered my questions right away.

I know the old alts have the externat voltage regulator which is likely shot anyways. Plus you could double your alt power for only like $60...totally worth it even without a high power draw boat. Makes me feel safer.

I heard it could be adjusted on the back of the dash but couldn't find where. My oil sending unit went bad and my beeper was stuck on so I disconnected the wire. I can reconnect it in the spring.

It likely is not charging much if at all at those low rpms... But I'm no mechanic. :D

should be charging ok at that RPM, check voltage with a multimeter, then switch to AC volts and see if there is more than 100mV could be bad diodes leaking AC voltage causeing low amperage.
I am a mechanic btw :)
