I'm bored at work on NYE and it's been far too long since I've been out on the boat so I've been browsing through some pics from last season. I thought I'd try and start a thread everyone would enjoy...One of the coolest parts of being a boat owner for me is getting the little ones out behind the boat and watching them progress. I'm posting up some pics of my little nephew who just turned 7 in August. This was his second full season behind the boat and he's tearing it up. Whenever one of the big guys/girls is out behind the boat he just sits there intently watching everything they do, then he heads out and trys to mimick it all. He taught himself ollies, wake slashes and surface 180's this way...Post up! Here's my little nephew. At the end of the season, he was ALMOST clearing the wake and landing on the top of the wake on a 50' rope! He'll have wake to wake down come spring. I can only imagine how good he'll be in 10 years! Wish I started that early!

That's so cool. What speeds are you pulling him at? I have a 7 and 9 year old and plan on getting them up as soon as possible this Spring.

Awesome!! My little guy is 17 months right now. He loved being on the boat last summer but way too young to do anything. I can't wait to get him started.

My kids are all grown and gone and having babies of their own.

We love to have the grandkids on the boat with us, they love it too.

My wife has had the older 2 (nearly 4) on the hydrofoil with her when they were
a year or less - it horrified their parents - but the kids had a blast!

Heres a few pics of my 6 year old, not bad for only being on the board for 2 months.... he really enjoys being on the water.

To SupraTTU - in the pics above. We're at 21.4 (according to perfect pass). Seems fast for a little guy I know, but he's worked up to it. We joke (well half joke) that he's put a majority of the hours on the boat in the last two seasons. Gets all the best water... When he started though, 10-14 mph...SLOW...it doesn't take nearly any speed to get the little guys up and on plane. As he progressed, so did the speed. When he's back there and we hit wind chop I drop it back a few mph to keep him from bouncing around...but he gets a pissed look on his face and points at the washed out wake and gives me a thumbs up!

To FMAN - I know. The kid will be better than me before he's 10...if he stays interested. The lake is Don Pedro. We hit that lake in spring anytime before memorial day and after labor day till november. Some truly EPIC days can be had there in the "off season" You're from NorCal, right? I'm sure you've been to pedro? Do you guys do Oroville and Bullards, Shasta...Trinity? You're kind of in the middle of it all. We hit Trinity for 2 weeks in August every year, 25 years running. I love Bullards and Shasta too. Haven't been to Oroville yet though.
Your little guy looks like he's catching on quick too. So much fun!

Yes, we hit all those lakes, and a few others as well. I have been to Pedro before, it was years ago. Oroville is a nice lake, good size with a lot of fingers.

I am towing him only at 15 mph, hopefully he will continue to show interest and progress every year. I think if I went over 21 he would catch an edge and face plant. He is going to start wearing a helmet this year, I caught an edge last year and almost got knocked out, it definitely rang my bell. I was quickly a believer in a helmet, it makes a huge difference when you fall hard. I am usually getting towed at 22, that seems to be when my boats wake cleans up real nice and gets rampy. Who knows, maybe in a couple years he will need a little more speed.

You should see him on the surfboard, the wave looks huge... I will take some pics this year, its pretty funny. I bought him a gromm 4.2, its a cool little board, he is very close to free surfing.

I got to meet clints son which I believe is 15 not to long ago and Clint defintly has a standup young man and a little shredder on his hands. His son and I talked for quite sometime about wakeboarding and wakeskating and he loves it and I hope to get to see him ride in the spring and maybe get him out on a boat with Jeff House and Derek Grassman, if they are in from Fla and not riding in a pro contest

I would reccomend to everyone to get more kids involved and take them out on your boats. Most kids dont have boats so to get a kids out thats arent us lucky as us that have boats and try to teach them to ride is so rewarding and great. There is a group of about 5 boats from my comp to new xstars that do this atleast once a month and its great to see parent and there kids faces when they get to hit the water and they first time they get up on skis or a board is amazing

^^^ +1 to that. All my fondest childhood memories involve boats, camping, skiing, etc etc. It's awesome when you can pass that on to others.

My 7 and 9 year olds on Lake Cumberland this past summer..a little blurry. The third is my son at 5 for the first time before he got a board that fits.

We're all on snowboards this time of year.
