Yep - I guess we should know better. But here's my theory: (and these are just generalizations so don't anybody get excited :))
1. The younger guys haven't been around long enough to have had kids that deplete all of their funds so they can "afford" newer boats, although mostly on credit;
2. We middle-agers have had our funds take a major hit from having kids that grow into teenagers so unless we bought a boat in our 20's, all we can afford is an older boat (in either case, we still have an older boat that needs some attention);
3. The old timers have had a chance to recover from their family rearing years and can once again, afford to buy new - this time without using credit.

Be patient and find a used "newer" boat. We paid 26k for ours and payments are around $220/month. We both work decent paying jobs and dont have kids...... yet, one on the way though. The boat is staying, its already been decided. I think it is just finding a good deal and I guess it really comes down to the number thats in the box on your paycheck.

I meant the clay, seems like a diamond bladed grinder on the roof would up the anty a little (compared to a battery op. skilsaw!), not sure what kinda vent would work with those tiles, we don't see a lot of those roof's up here....wait a minute isn't this a boat forum?? LOL

I'm with ya Daniel. Everything (except the house) is paid for, and yes my boat is 24 years old but after restoration it will be as good as new - probably even better in some respects since Viper Customs takes such care with the details. And I'll still have less than $20K in the boat and trailer (that includes the original purchase price) - and all mine.

I'll be 45 in April
