Me and my ole lady are already starting to plan for the summer. We are looking for some lakes in OK or tx for memorial day, the 4th, and labor day. We are kinda board with possium kindom. Any suggestions?

We were already doing the same. My wife has only been in Texas for 2 years and this is the first year we have had a boat. We were looking into PK but everything is already booked. I lived on Lake Ray Hubbard for most of my life and we spent most of our holidays there. Now we are in McKinney and we have a boat again and all of the sudden we are clueless to where to go. I have no idea where to go North of Dallas. I'm not up on any of these lakes and I would love some advise. Especially for the holidays.

Is there a Texas Style Supra reunion in the works?

Gravity08
03-15-2010, 10:56 PM
That would be sweet. I'd like to put a face with members. Depending on the place I know several lakes that have great camping accomodations. Last year at pk we camped from tuesday to Sunday. Lewisville has great party cove. We've only been there twice.

I'd be up for it too. Maybe we could incorporate some of the OK folks. Texoma?

As far as lakes to consider, in OK you could hit Texoma, Tenkiller, Eufaula, or even Skiatook. There's some other's too. All of them have some nice facilities to consider and would be nice lakes to spend some time on.

Start planning those trips and lining up accomodations. Things book up early for holidays.

Clinton Lake IL. is a nuke power lake water temp is 80 degrees at the discharge.
I am waiting for a high 60 plus day to kick off the season. Its 135 miles one way but well worth it for warm water.

Texoma is where we call home. With that said, you def. arent looking to early, as most of the "good" spots are already booked. I've had mine bokoed since January, and I still was to late on getting my favorite camp spot. We spend alot of camptime at Platter Flats on Texoma. It's on the Oklahoma side, but not to far in. Here's a snap shot of the overall view of platter, I circled the spots we call good. Out of those 5 in the middle, we have the top one. My favorite are the 2 next to us. Those 5 sites, as well as the 2 across the cove, allow you to pull the boat up, and leave it anchored during the day and it is 100% in site and out of any from of rough water. It's soo nice to be able to pull up, anchor, have some lunch and head out again. The two on the far left allow this also, but the cove is not as protected from the open water. The 5 in the middle are B4, B5, B6, B8, the two on the right are A42 and A43 and the two on the far left are B19 and B20. With that said, If you guys want to join on Memorial day and any of the spots on the B-side are open, you will be more than welcome to anchor next to me since will will be in site of the boats. My group hase B6 and B8, and some other friends have the two on the far left. Hopefully this post helps.

After posting this, I went and check to see what is open for Memorial day, and B2 and B7 are still open. These sites are directly across from us and you would be able to anchor and see your boat from camp. Just FYI. Thats for Arriving Thursday 27th and leaving by 3 on Sunday!

Now get on Recreation.gov and get those sites booked boys!!

I'll check with my girl today. New lake would be great. What kind of accodations do they have there?

I know a lake that everyone that is close should come to for a get together. Amon g Carter in Bowie tx. Camping. Cliffs on both sides of the main channel. Wind dosnt matter unless it is out of the east or west. The second part of the lake is deep and a great place to tie up and swim. On a normal weekend you don't have to fight for water.

we are b8, so b7 is directly across the rd. All the plots I circled are set up for "back in" and have a 30 amp power supple and waterhose hookup

Gravity08

B7 is ours. I reserved for 6 but it will prob be 2. If anyone wants to split cost they can set tent up at our spot.

I'm Going to grab the b2 spot. That way we will have the entire area and enough room for the truck.

Nice, out of all those spots on the B side, B2, B6, B7, B8, and B19, and I think B20 are all people I know....should be a blast.

I wish I hadn't had my dates jacked up back in January when I reserved..B5 is where it's at...that will teach me to read the damn calendar.

Matt Laird
03-28-2010, 05:19 PM
Do they have any RV spots close? My girl is more of a camperer than a tent camper... If im off i'll make the trip...

Gravity08
03-28-2010, 05:21 PM
I beleive the spots that we have are rv ready. we have electric and water. I bet we could find a spot to park the truck and trailer else where if we cant all park at the site.

Matt Laird
03-28-2010, 05:28 PM
the last spot is b22 across the street from yall... Im gonna book it right now... Someone will just have to keep an eye on my boat for me..

Gravity08
03-28-2010, 05:32 PM
Not a problem. Depending on the layout I may load the boat every night. Last year at pk I beached it on a nice area (walked it up on a sandy area).

Matt Laird
03-28-2010, 05:34 PM
Its not gonna work, The spot is only capable for a 30' camper... Ill see if the woman would tent camp but i cant be too sure...

Gravity08

Gravity08

I know a guy that sells the classics already milled for 200 a wheel. All I would need is the adaptors.

Matt Laird
03-28-2010, 06:25 PM
Not to step all over this thread

Thats a great price, dont forget you will only be able to go with a 36 steer or 37-40" traction tire. I went with the 37 & only had to do a 2.5" leveling kit... Make sure they are aluminum.. the tires are heavy enough... Unless you get the american force 22" or 24" then you can run any 22 or 24" tire... 22.5" is limited to 3 different sizes right now...
Wish you luck...

Gravity08
03-28-2010, 06:32 PM
Theyd be 22s. Id probably not be able to run as agressive as tire. If I sell the bed the truck may get a 6" lift so i could run 24s with 37s on it.

dusty2221
03-28-2010, 08:47 PM
Hey Matt, I wouldn't worry about the 30 length. We are in a 31 ft and have never had an issue. You will most likely just have to unhook the truck and park it in a diff spot.

We will have no problem watching this boat. Hell, I figured we would all end up shootin the shit at one spot all weekend anyways. I'll volunteer the spot! Our camper has the exterior speakers so er can have tunes the while time

Matt Laird
03-28-2010, 09:12 PM
Dusty I already told them It was gonna be a tent on the reservations... You think they will flip out if I show up with a camper? Also I will have 2 trucks... one hooked to the boat & 1 to the camper..

I got a full liquor cabinet in the RV...

Lot closer than Brostock. As much as I would like to go.

dusty2221
03-28-2010, 10:34 PM
I don't imagine they would have an issue. I mean hell, the spot is reserved wither way...they are getting paid! If you've got a camper, youd be crazy not to bring it! We will have two trucks two, we will figure out all the parking when we get there I guess. The boat ramp is in plain sight of our spot to, and it's limit to campers only, zero day use allowed, so worst case we can jsut leave the trucks and boat trailers at the ramp. You could throw a rock from our spot and hit them.

dusty2221
03-28-2010, 10:38 PM

Cool, Ill call tommorow & see if I can get it changed either way... Dont wanna pull all the way down and have some problems with the bacon..

Dusty dont worry bro I'm gonna park my yacht and ride with you... save some of that of that big boat gas... haha Bet I can burn 60gal a day... What you burn bout 25-30? Mine is more of beach & party cove boat...

You guys have a good # of how many people who will be comming? Ill have 5 with me... including my 7yr daughter...

Just got off the horn with The Gate @ Platter Flatts, They changed my reservations to a camper instead of a tent & told me the extra parking & boat trailer parking will be 1st come 1st serve..

Dusty,
Just thinking, How far is it from the closest camp site to where we can beach the boats? I'm gonna need to charge my batterys atleast once a day.. To keep from rafting... Either reload every night or run a cord...

dusty2221
03-29-2010, 10:54 AM
Hey Matt-
The red line I added is where the boats can stay. From that red line to our camp spots, is like 100 ft or so, depending on the lake level. There is zero sand whatsoever right there, its all grass. And the "mud" on the shore line is the kind that sucks your foot it and turns it into a clay mud ball! I've beached the old boat there once, but hated it. Now, I pull in and turn the boat facing the other shoreline and tie a line to the shore from the back of the boat. You will need a pretty long cord if you are planning on running one from camp to the boat!

Hopefully all that makes sense.

I normally hit Lake Lewisville, since it's 20 minutes away and has very little timbered up areas. It's a decent size, has a great "alley" of sorts on the east of the lake for the wakeboarders, and a party cove on the west side of the lake. I will say though, it gets very packed on labor day, memorial day, and 4th of July. More so than some of the other nearby lakes.

The only lake i really go on is Lake Somerville. I think its about 30 mins south of College Station. I live south of Houston, and the rivers around here are generally alot calmer. The state park at somerville is nice. There are some decent coves to rip it up in, and some nice places to anchor up so we chill in the water. I like it.

When I get my 420 I stalled I'll have one aux out on the driver side and I can make another aux out on the pass side. I also have one phono Jack that is about 15 to 20 ft long. That will take care of one boat. I may have another one laying arround. I'll look.
