I have a 1988 454 Engine and Velvet drive for sale. The Velvet drive was completely overhauled 5 years ago and has about 800 hours on it.

Both of these run strong and without worry.

They were pulled from a 1988 saltare.

Make an offer

Thanks

Sorry I messed up. The boat is a 1987 Saltare.

Where are you located? What condition is the interior, floor, stringers, exterior? Thanks for posting

How cool would it be to put this set up in a Sunsport?

Has anything been done to the engine itself?

Jolly,

Are you parting out the boat or is the engine/tranny all you have? Thanks.

I have the complete boat but the latest estimate to repair/replace 3/4 of the stringers was $7200. So I am selling the power train because it hurts to throw away these things when they run this good.

I havent really considered parting the rest of the boat out. I'll post some pics later today when I get the boat back from the fiberglass shop.

I am located in Lake Geneva, WI. I have 9 other boats in my fleet including a 2005 MC prostar 205v and this engine runs just as strong. It has been well maintained and shows no signs that there is anything wrong. This boat has spent the last 5 years as a daily driver. About 250 hours a season.

I'm looking for a tow pylon with mounting hardware & maybe a few other goodies for late 80's Saltare. Hate to see one scrapped, but let us know if you decide to part her out... Thanks.

Ok here are the pics. If you see something you want, call it out and PM me with an offer.

Here is some more info on the engine and transmission. The engine has been updated to the Holley 4160 about 5 years ago. The starter is a recent rebuild and the alternator was changed to an acdelco one wire. This engine has NEVER had Ethanol or Ethanol blend run in it. 93 octane pure gasoline only.

The Velvet drive was rebuild about 5 years ago and is a 1:1 72C.

I was told by one of my parts suppliers that $4000 for the set would be fair. But lets just see where the offers end up.

The trailer is also up for sale. It has a manufacture date of November 2006 so I think that makes it a 2007 model.. But anyway its a Trail Master trailer and I bet there isn't 100 miles on it. The trailer was used to tow the boat from storage 3 miles to the lake and then back again at the end of the season. Make Offer.

I also have the seats for the boat but it would take sometime to get them out and photograph them. If you are interested in them let me know and I'll take some pics. They are in similar condition to the bow seats pictured below.

The cover is good with no rips.

Did I miss anything?

Again I'm located in Lake Geneva WI 53147 for shipping information.

engine looks great, hardly looks like it came out of a rotted hull. wish i had thought of the flat tire block stand too.

stainless rails up front and teak in the back, never seen that combo before.

Salty, my 87 had stainless grab bar in front and teak wood in back until I removed it.

Here is a list of things that may interest some of you on the boat. As I look at it these are things I see as having value to someone.

Engine PCM 454 / Velvet drive
Prop Shaft
Prop
Rudder
Steering linkage
Control Linkage
Teak Swim Platform
Ski Pylon (may already be sold)
Gauges
Exhaust
Windshields
Any teak Trim
2006/7 Trailer
Bow lights
Cover

Again if you see anything you would be interested in PM me with an offer.

Thanks for all the concern about loosing the boat. But no worries I still have my 2000 Launch.

That stringer estimate seems high. Some people have gotten stringers in TN for as little as $3500. I just heard MN has stringer repair in Mille Laccs. There is still some market for restoring these boats.

Mine also has SS in front and teak in rear.

Thanks for the info on stringer repair. I have decided not to repair the boat. If someone wants to buy the boat as is make me and offer.

do you have the small wing window on the drivers side? Also do you have the small door that covers up the port storage area right in the entryway to the bow?

Let me know, thanks!

What size is the prop? Does anyone know if the shaft in a Saltare is same size in length as the Sunsport/Rider? I think I have a bent prop shaft so I maybe interested in yours.

thanks
