Have a 87 saltare in my driveway to check out if I want to buy! buddy has owned it since new has 500+ hours on it. faded and needs paint on trailer ,interior needs some wood but ok other wise. 454 has had new heads but has not been run for 2 years . IS THIS BOAT WORTH 6000 ?

that's a tough call without seeing the boat in person. www.nadaguides.com for my area put low retail around $7k (http://www.nadaguides.com/Values/ValueReport.asp?UserID=540732F2C4D68&DID=38134&Typ e=MR&GCode=MR&wPg=1107&wSec=4&Com=1536&Year=1987&M odel=1600180973) but that's just an estimate. you should check for your area.

the engine not having run in 2 years is a big concern. there's not much worse for an engine than sitting around un-used. get a compression test on the engine, check the stringers while you're in there, and take it on the water. also check the floor for soft spots.

the faded gelcoat might be salvageable. the trailer needing paint isn't too suprising.

depending on the condition of the boat and trailer, i'd say that 6k isn't asking too much. whether it's really worth that is up to you. i've enjoyed the crap out of mine, but i've also put a lot of work into it.
