So did anyone take off the factory style Bimini that fastens on the tower and want to get rid of it.

I am planning on building one this summer but would be interested in a take off if it will work for my tower.

If anyone has a picture of this style Bimini that would be appreciated.

Kip they generally don't work under a tower. However you can Mod the bimini to fit without too much trouble.

Here is a thread I wrote about my bimini mod. :)

Mikey thanks for the link and great work it looks great. I have been hunting for an old bimini with no luck. So I was looking to build or buy one like on the new Supra's and SeaRay's. All it is is a single bow connected to the front tower arms with the canvas around this bow on one end and the other end connected to the top bar of the tower. The ones I have seen on new SeaRays have straps that come from the front of the Bimini and fasten to the very front of the tower.

Here is a pic of the style I am looking for.

Hmm there may be pics of something like that in some of the links at the bottom of my thread. I do know what you are referring to. You should be able to find support poles at westmarine.com. Personally I would contact Monster Tower for the brackets to attach the bow-arm to the tower-top (because they are super helpful). Best of luck! Please take pics and do a short write up!!

Mikey I checked out your build again and the link to the one on Wakeworld was really good. The pictures gave me some good ideas. I will post some pics once I get rolling on it.

Hey Kip. i have wanted to do a diy flat bimini like this one, so It will fit under the tower, you would be able to stand under it, it would tilt and I would add top rails to it so it could store xtra boards and surf boards like the Z5. I know I can build one of these for a few hundred dollars..i just dont want to blow $500-$900 for the model I want. Jet

Dont pay attention to the red lines, found pic on google.

I hear ya Jet, I am really looking at that style also. My biggest problem with a rigid flat one is that we will have to drop our tower at one of our vacation spots in order to go under a bridge:mad:. If I can figure out a way to make it easily collapse I would look at that style. There are some great pics of some like you are planning to build in the threads that are posted in Mikey's Bimini thread.

Good Luck

If you are also looking at a cargo rack, I would try and style it after the Monster cargo rack. The four poles that attach the hard-bimini to the tower are quick-release. I believe you should be able to lower the bimini or remove it altogether for a min while you lower the tower. You could give monster a call and I bet they would sell you the four poles...

I'm pretty sure Ed just posted a link to Moomba forums where someone put one together and there are lots of great pics. Look around here for another bimini thread.

No Kip..no it would be under the tower like this. Heres a better picture. Now tell me we couldnt build one of these for $200 or so. Jet

Jet I would say we could definitely DIY something like that for around $200. I think the easy release clamps would be the hard thing to find it seems like even standard clamps run $25+ each. I read about using rigid aluminum conduit and think that would work great and look good too.

yes, you could powder coat after it was built to. Jet

no, that would be black on black, that wouldnt look good. i want to use black material on mine.
