Lately I have been adding more and more weight for surfing in my 24SSV. The wave keeps getting taller but cant seem to get a very long pocket. It also seems like I have to drive fairly fast order to get the wave to curl and not just be whitewash. I have to drive around 12mph to get the good wave and it seems like most people are sticking around 10.5-11. Is anyone else in a 24 foot boat having to drive this fast?

Right now I have been using a 750 in the locker, a 400 on top of that and usually some weight in the front, around 500. The wave is really high but not too long, let me know if you guys have any input on the speed.

More front weight.
Are you filling the center ballast + the additional 500, or do you only have 500 up front?

I am still working on mine as well and am new to surfing. So far j have just tried 750 in the rear and 1100 up front. We had to go between 11.7 and 12.2 like you said. It actually helped us to put 200-300 in the nonsurfside.

The plan this weekend is to stack a 400 on the 750 in the rear and then put another 400 in the bow on the surfside. Might not be able to fill the 2 400s full but that is the plan. I'd like to keep everything concealed which means both 400's wonT fill al the way.

Does your 400 in the rear fill full on top of te 750?

I hope this thread produces some good answers :)

I run 11.5 with 950 in the stern and at least 500 up front, all depending on the number of people on board and the amount of gas in the tank.

I sometimes have the same problem, seems when you add more in the bow you also need to add more in the stern, the wave gets longer but also seems to loose some height. Making a very slight turn into the surfside helps alot.

Check out the ballast pole in the wake surfing thread for more info.

More front weight! Try to get it to one side if possible. I use about 350 in the bow. I also use about 350 in the rear non-surf side to sink the whole rear of boat a bit more.

Right now I have been filling the 1150 center sack to about 500 or so when surfing because any more seems to make the wave smaller. I actually dont stack the 400 ontop of the 750, I put the 400 laying on top of the seats and ski locker. Its not concealed but that way I can fill it up all the way. Sounds like I need to try some weight in the front on the surf side then.
