I just wanted to find people with the same kind of boat as me.

I have a 88 Supra Comp ts6m.

I thought there might be a way to search the memeber list by boat type, but didn't see anything.

below the textbox where you are typing your reply, there will be a button in the "additional options" sections that is labeled "manage attachments". This will allow you to browse for your pictures, select them and once you select "upload" they will appear with your reply.

I had a 1990 supra comp TS6M for 19 years and sold it to buy a mastercraft prostar 205...biggest mistake I have ever made. I love my supra. It handles like it's on rails and has an awesome slalom wake. The 'craft was good... lots of room but drove like a bathtub on the water.
I began searching for another comp and came across my latest purchase in Minnesota. I drove 15 hours to get it (I live in Clarksville, Tennessee) and can't wait to get it in the water. I recently added a 4 blade nimbrel prop, 13 x 13 pitch. I have the original 13 x 13 OJ cupped prop as my backup. It was damaged a little when I bought the boat.
I'll keep you guys posted on when I put her in the water for the maiden voyage. I am SO GLAD to be back in the comp family.
I'll post some pics of my old, and my new boat.

Suprabob,
Love those red boats. My 97 sunsport is same color. What kind of tower did you have on your older boat. Has a nice look to it. Congrats on being back in supra family. I have been riding behind a supra for over 25 years now. There is something about them that keeps us coming back.

I have an 88 Comp. I will try to find the new pictures from last weekend. Still get comments most days at the ramp. Been looking to get into the wake boats, but there is just something about that boat that keeps pulling you back. No tower, no ballast, just pure boat. And a new 242 can't do a power turn!

those power turns bent my rudder!!! And I'm guess'in they'll bend the next one....they're too damn fun.......

That's funny!

Really, it bent your rudder? I've done it several times, but only to a stop, which is about 180 degrees of turn, then the boat stops dead in the water. I did it once pulling my girls in the tube from my pylon, and the tube drifted right up to my bow. I stopped before the tube did!

You must be getting more agressive than me. Do you turn then yank the throttle or the other way around? I pull of the power, then as the weight transfers forward, I add the turn input and the stern will slides around.

Long ago, I used to ski with a group of friends who put on ski shows. They had this cool trick that they called "Around the boat" where two skiers would ski around the boat. I never had an oppertunity to try it, but it sure looked cool. Two skiers would ski out on either side of the boat from the wake with a bunch of speed on, and when they came abreast of the boat, they would begin to turn back in, and the driver would initiate a power turn, reversing the boats direction, while the skiers continued skiing the turns they had intiated until they returned to the wake, now heading in the opposite direction. This was really impressive to see, but actually really simple to perform. The skiers just ski, and the boat driver justs drives, no big deal.

Someone needs to try this with video camera to post!

Great boat. Slalom skier from the 70's and 80's -- kids love to wakeboard. The Comp does it all. Second owner. Original owner ran in fresh water and kept in garage (as do I) the entire life of the boat. 238 hours. All original. Factory tower with shade n' store installed this month. Shade n' store is great asset on a boat this size. Pics taken with my iPhone, so quality is not great. Digicam pics too large to upload. Will add some more as time goes by.

thanks for all the responses. I didn't even know this thread was still out here. I want to add everyone with the same boat to my contact/friend list in case i ever need any advise about my boat. I figured someone with the same boat would be a good source. does anyone have fat sacs in the comp besides jet. i'm running a 750lb at the moment.

mapleleaf
09-08-2010, 09:54 PM
with bags I bought here I can almost get 900lb, but with my budget this summer I've been adding weight with water jugs, tubs whatever!!!! I think I maxed out one session around an est. 1600 lb plus 2X 190 lb men, great wakeboarding wake with that weight but frighteningly low boat, must been done carefully......

I run 800 lbs in mine (2 Fat Sac V-drive sacs @400/ea). Plus people and fuel and have to watch the water! By the way, I have two sacs - not sure of the brand - that are comparable to the V-drive sacs, plus a pump/wire cigarette plug/5 ft hose that I am selling. These are grey 48x16x16 or so. $110 for the set up. They have the sacs and cover bags with straps. The valves are the water bed type. Works well. I wanted black sacs so they would match my carpet.

Your hull design looks like mine, less the tower. 20ft length. Cover fits the boat and the swim platform, or just tuck it under the stern if the platform is off. I believe it is a fit. Pic of my boat attached.

I have an '88 that I bought in '93. I love it but its ready for new carpet and upholstry. To someone's previous comment, I once snapped my rudder clear off doing a power turn just outside the 5mph bouy after launching. That didn't deter us. I used my emergency oar to steer from the back while my throttle man worked the speed. We got a couple hours of cruising out of it.

I pick up the new trailer from Boatmate next week and while I am there I will stop by Viper and drop off seat cushions. Question: thinking about ordering new carpet from Jim, but how hard to install? Has anyone done a self carpet install and how did you do it? Thanks. PS - Old trailer sold the first weekend on Craigslist.

11-11-2010, 10:40 PM
alignment of the carpet once I'd rough cut the shape was the tricky part. I used the Henry's outdoor carpet adhesive avail. at Lowes. I started at the front and worked my way back adding adhesive in about 2' increments.....trimming carpet as I went. Stuck down really well......

I hope to be joining the club here real soon. I'm shopping for my first ski boat and I really like the look of the older Supra Comps. I'm currently looking at an '88 Comp TS6M. Would love to hear your opinions on the following deal..looks pretty sharp to me:

For that price I would expect a tower on it. But thats a SUPER looking and unique boat. I would just talk him down $1000-$1500 so you can use that money to get one. If you like it I would be all over that thing. Its beautiful and unique!!

Appreciate the feedback. You've obviously been pleased with yours..I just grew up around Nautiques and Mastercrafts so the Supra brand is still new to me. I'm a little gun-shy because I know what I'm getting in terms of quality with a Nautique, but I prefer the look of the older Supra and it's low profile. I keep reading about the stringers rotting. Are you pretty much guaranteed that you'll be replacing those at some point regardless of how well the boat is cared for? Doesn't sound like a job I want to mess with or have to pay for, so that concerns me.

I've considered searching for newer than '92 to get around the stringer issue but the newer Supras, that would have fiberglass stringers, they don't have that low profile appearance, correct? Any idea what year they changed the design of the hull on the comp to where it doesn't sit as low?

Thanks,
Corey
