I am starting a thread now for the interior rebuild. Which seems to be somewhat controversial since we are going with all black. However, we are leaving the interior walls the light grey color for contrast. I will post some pictures up when I get home. Thanks for all the inquiries! It is really motivational!

Yes the picture shows the cupholder is crooked. Dont worry, I fixed it.

Did you coat that plywood with anything or glass it?

Yea I was so excited to get the first piece in that there was a lot of haste but after the big reveal I did the tinkering to get it right.

The floor panels were all given 3 coats of poly-resin plus the carpet glue I used was a water barrier as well.

That black is looking sharp - too bad it's not an option down here in the Texas sun.

Did you paint the wood trim or stain? I'm thinking about trying to stain my trim black, but I only have wood on the bow & side storage lockers, engine cover hatch, and swim platform. I love the look of teak, but think the few pieces I have will continue to really date the boat after her "modernization".

I love the black. Add some accents of blood red and its called "Murdered Out" according to my daughter. I almost did that too but the wife said no way. Floor looks good. Do you have a tower for that?

Looks awesome!!! I love the black too. I posted on here how I did my old MC floor with black bed liner and loved it. I am definately going with black on my SunSport after the resto. I never knew that the red accents on the black was caled "murdered out" that is what I was planning on with my boat since it is factory red.

Mike-
We used a bedliner paint. You can get it at Schucks/O'reilly's or any other auto parts store really. Its water resistant and it gives a bit of texture too. And I am loving the black...Piece by piece its coming together

We are ordering the Pro X Series Stainless Steel tower, it is said to be the worlds strongest wake tower, and the only tower RECOMMENDED for tubing as well as wake boarding and everything else. I'm not too sure on the red though, I would be open to it in the future but at this point most of the upholstery is done, and its black, which looks waaaaaay better.

Every piece of black that goes in just makes it better! I saw the MC it was pretty cool. I really really like the diamond plating you did with the gauge cluster, that set everything off. If our boat was red we might of done some accents, but everything is looking so streamlined and cleaned up with the black.

Ok, were getting ready to frame in a front observers seat like the orignal. Can anyone tell us what the original demensions are of the seat base. We can see the seat back just by the boat moldings, but would like to know the exact demensions of the base.

I'm on my doghouse now too, even with the old template it's been a challenge, I cut the cabinet off the back so I could add a foot rest/filming seat and it as definitely made it trickier.......No more wrinkles please......

saltare inverts
04-25-2010, 10:45 AM
Wrinkles are def hard to deal with. Make sure you buy the thin plastic and lay it over whatever you are putting upholstery on. It makes it much easier too move, stretch and adjust the vinyl. I had to resew my doghouse twice because of the wrinkles. Almost the death of me.

yea i really liked that too! i think if i get my own boat i will try to find a sunsport and i will make it look like new with an old school twist! i wanna paint it orange and have a silver decal on the side and i will paint it white on the interior and then have white and orange vinyl throughout with accents of silver and then go with the polished wake tower and then reteak all the wood for a classic look...then i will name it "the creamsicle"

I'm with dshaff - was a kid with a T-top Trans Am (black looked sooo cool), summertime, been sittin in the sun with the tops off, hopped into the cloth seat with no shirt, forgot about the small plastic emblem in the seat back, & literally branded a "flaming chicken" into my back. Black still looks sooo cool - my current truck is black on black (guess I'm a slow learner...).

Here is a wakeworld thread on the topic - I like this one beacuse you could maybe make storage room underneith the seat bottom.

Here is Overtons $75 jumpseat with a plastic frame, storage, removable seat cushion. However they have this: Warning: The back of this jump seat must rest against the transom in rear of boat. Do not use as a free standing seat

I have 2inch foam on the seat backs and 3inch foam on the seat bottoms. It's pretty comfy to sit on. Almost makes you want to not get into the water....but that also might be because I live in Washington State and the "warm" water here is maybe 60 haha.
