Probably gonna be a surplus of rigging available down here in the gulf pretty soon (thanks BP/TransOcean/Halliburton). Catch and release your own ballast?

I'd post a pic, but unfortunately I currently could put a Conbrio inside - the cap is still off

Never understood why big toys are always considered phallic symbols. Is it a possibility that they're just successful and spend their money the way they see fit?

On the other hand I like the Saltare better, too. ;)

I'll have some more pics soon. I just got my boat this fall and don't have many yet. I've got a lot of little things I want to do over the winter, so you'll likely see more from me.

On another note, I'm a neighbor to Loadup. I'm also in Ooltewah, TN.

U got so hooked up on that FAE!!! Still lovin it? I absolutely love mine. Love your MT bimini for sure!

Yes... I had to take it off a few times to reseal and align my exhaust through-hulls, but once it was sealed up it works great. I still get engine noise, but I suspect the leak is closer to the exhaust manifolds. Next spring I'm going to replace the rubber exhaust hoses and insulate the doghouse. I'm guessing it will get even quieter. It is a DREAM for the surfer, though.... SO quiet!! I don't even want to admit what the total cost for the FAE was.... it was completely refurbed and refitted by Gary and my total cost into it is criminal. ;)

I've been a fan of the Saltares for years...started with this '87 and have moved up to a '92 this year...great family boat...I'll be saying goodbye to the '87 in December...she'll be missed.

whoa...a 92 saltare. i think i've seen that boat around town before or at least there's another one here somewhere. curved windshield....no wood in your floor?

the mid 90s boats are kinda like white rhino's....few of them around. do you have more pics??

I REALLY like the original graphics even with the pinstripes. It makes me so nostalgic. That 92 blue looks a lot like Irish_Jack's boat, where the heck is he anyways?

haha You're not the first to have said that. I'm slowly getting the body work on the truck done, you can see where I replaced the cab corner in that picture. Gonna be time for paint soon. I'm tempted to do the truck two tone red and white to match the Saltare...

I'm also jealous of the tow-vehicle! I don't have a tow-vehicle right now (have 3-4 that I borrow within about a mile.) This spring I'm hoping to have the funds to pick up an 87 Ford. I have this fantasy of having the sickest time-warp 1987 rig around!

Looks nice, Cadunkle. Hope mine looks that good some day...

Is it just my completely biased opinion, but aren't those Salts just timeless?

I'd love to find a saltare shell and build a v-drive diesel 2-speed with in floor ballast.

Stolen? Man, that sucks! Any insurance?

Great pics - Damn fine looking boat for sure & the wake pics look awesome (especially trailing the boat). What was your set up for the 2k ballast?

cowwboy4
12-09-2010, 12:22 PM
I've got an awesome insurance agent so it was very well insured.
But still sucks!!! I had just put the batteries back in tower speakers on hadn't put the sacks jackets etc back in it thankfully though.

I had a triangle bag in the bow and two 400's in the back compartment on top of the fuel tank. When surfing we would pull one bag out and put it next to the motor.
I ran it one time with two 400's next to the motor and one in the storage and the front half full and I was a wee bit spooked but it was such a great wave.

That picture is bad since the girl was just learning and kept the board at the top of the wave and just plowed through it.

There are alot of nice rides out there! My last boat was a 17' shallow runner fishing boat and I upgraded in May to this 88 Saltare. We had a great time this summer. I'm glad this site is here for us Newbys to learn all this good info. Cant wait til spring. I gotta get a different prop I think for better take-off. Its fine with 5-6 adults, but with any more it takes awhile to get up to speed for wakeboarding.

Yep from the same place you looked at it.
Was working late and they hooked up to it mid day right after my neighbor left for work.
I showed it a bunch of times and figure it was someone who looked at it and was really doing a little bit of shopping.

Random tidbit. My first time out in my Saltare after I got it this past September a friend from work came out for his first time. He's Italian. Looked at the writing on the side of the boat and asked if Saltare was the name of my boat. Told him, no, it's the model, a Supra Saltare. Apparently Saltare means "to jump" in Italian. He thought since I kneeboard and wakeboard I had named it Saltare. Kind of cool really. I wonder if Supra knew the meaning of Saltare in Italian or if it was a play on words "salt air". Doubtful they intended it as in the '80s I suppose everything was slalom so jumping wouldn't make much sense.
