Last Saturday I noticed a short squeal from the rear of the boat when shifting from drive to nuetral. I shift to nuetral and a few seconds later a short squeal sounds that lasts 2 to 3 seconds. My first thought was that it sounded like the prop coming to a stop. Maybe something too tight, needing grease...not sure. It is a 91 Supra Impulse with 351. Anyone have any ideas???

I checked the fluid last weekend and I think it was fine...I will have to double check to make sure...

Possibly a loose drive belt? My '08 was doing this occassionally, tightened up the belt and has been quiet ever since.

Shaft bushing, fluid, belts...all that is fine. I think we have narrowed it down to the bearings on the back of the transmission. When you pull it out of drive, it is like the transmission isn't able to stop the prop shaft for about 10 seconds. It just comes to a VERY SLOW stop producing this annoying squeal. From reverse to neutral it doesn't happen...the shaft stops almost immeadeatly. I have to bump it in reverse real fast in order to avoid this embarrassing noise.
