First post!

Just purchased an '89 Sunsport and still chasing down / working out the bugs. The latest is that the oil dummy light and buzzer comes on and off at various times. The oil pressure gauge shows about 35-40lbs and I have yet to correlate a pressure reading with the alarm coming on.

Any suggestions?

I'd like to hear if anyone has an 80s boat that the buzzers/warning lights work correctly?

Mine comes on when the rpm's drop below like 800 rpm's, I had to put some toilet paper in the little siren whole so It wasn't so loud. Now I can stand the siren going off.

You may want to check the viscosity of the oil you are running. I have a PCM 454 in my boat. In the spring the oil buzzer goes off routinely at idle in the early spring. Once summer hits I never get the buzzer. I run straight 40W oil. My guess is if I ran 30W in the spring I would get rid of the buzzer in the spring.

First its called an Idiot light. The alarm system on my 89 Sunsport has been disconnected since it was 3 months old. The dealer never could get it to work without false alarms. The gauges tell the real story if it was mine I would just unplug the alarm under the dash.

Thanks!

I just had the oil changed but don't know what the shop put in it.

Seems like the solution is to unplug it!

add another to the disconnect crowd here.

you might also check that the wires are secure at the pressure sensor.
