We do not have a wakesurf board but a friend of mine used to surf for years when he lived in Malibu, CA and he owns an ocean style surf board. it's about seven feet long.

Is this surfable behind my boat, or do we absolutely have to get a wakesurfing board?

What would be the downfalls other than manuverability? We haven't tried wakesurfing yet, but we're itching to.

We have an ocean surf board that washed up on shore! It's actually pretty nice it's somewhat agressive and about 6' tall 2" hand shaped foam. It surfs pretty good. Great bouyancy and super easy to catch the wave. However, the fins are too big and only big slow turns are possible. No lip slides or 3's here.

It works great on smaller waves but on larger waves it is always bumping into the swim platform. If you just want to experiment, it will work fine. But keep your eyes on wakeworld classifieds, wakeoutlaws classifieds or craigslist.

Also be warned that newbies have a tendancy to fall off the back and kick the board into your transom which REALLLLLY sucks. Don't let newbies ride hand shaped boards lol.

Thanks, Mikey. That's pretty much exactly what we want to do. We just want to start off slow and get people standing up on the board. My friend that owns it, was a great surfer when in Malibu, and he's hit a bunch of 15 foot waves and the very rare 20 footers when the storms rolled through in Cali. He'll be fine, but the rest of us need a boat of a board to handle ourselves. LOL

Yep that's what we did too! Basically once we got the inboard and a couple of sacs, our first experiment with the surf wave worked great with the ocean board. It was so fun we had to get more surf boards right away. Different boards are just so fun with wakesurfing.

Don't take mikeys warning lightly. I have a nice scratch on the back of my boat from a buddy.

Different boards are fun. We just starte this year, have 2 boards, and already wondering which board is next

Yeah my boat took a tiny scratch - but the board exploded! Literally the front 2' of the board looks like a bananna with a firecracker inside (best image I could come up with lol). I was able to expxy it back to working condition but she is not quite the same. :( :( So NO NEWB friends get to ride the ocean board! No joke! If that happened to me and it was my board that is another story. Another idea might be to keep the leash attached or even shortened.

That's the idea I'm tinkering with. I think we'll give this whole thing a shot this weekend. I'll get some pictures to let ya'll know how miserably we failed. ;)

And to the important question...... are you willing and ready to try it again??? :)

I already did. ;) Went back out yesterday. We need more bow weight since the pocket is too short and too close to the boat, but I'm not willing to sacrifice what I've got laid down right now.

350 in the rear ski locker and two 400s on the surf side floor laying end to end.

I also noticed that the engine was throwing off some smoke out the exhaust pipes, but it was only while we were surfing. We were at 3/4 throttle and had a pretty good list, and the nose was sticking up pretty good. I'm thinking it's just the extreme angle and not much to worry about. What do ya'll think?
