Speedometer Question - 03' Launch SSV

Does the paddle wheel serve as the speed sensor for both the normal speedometer and Perfect Pass? I noticed this weekend that the perfect pass is reading correctly, but my normal speedometer won't read higher than about 8mph. I am used to the old school pressure tube speedometer pick-up, but I don't see one on this boat. I am guessing there is air in the line somewhere, I just don't know how this unit is supposed to work.

Any help out there?

My speedo stoped working the first day bought the boat. I do not have PP but I use my Garmin navii out of my truck with the suction cup mount and it works perfect.
