So I have a legacy with a 330hp in it. It stays cool at idle but once we start driving it starts to heat up not super hot but around 180 and the exhaust manifolds are hot but cools at idle i have replaced impeller and thermostat check all hose for plug but nothing all clear the water pump on the block is not leaking so i would guess its good but my question is can the water pump on the block get weak and not keep up. any help would be great

Thanks so much

My 89 Comp runs around 180 all day long, I wouldn't get too conserned until you go above 180. What temp thermostat did you put in? If it's a 180, you're fine.

Sound like a blockage on the intake line, not enough to stop the flow but enough to slow it down. Did you inspect every oil cooler for sea weed? How about removing the output hose and verify the amount of water flow at all rpm's. The water flow should be extenive at high rpm's. This can be check at neutral position. Al

I had the same problem with my old MC. Turns out it was just as Beast 496 described it - old pieces of impeller in the lines.

Had a similar problem. Replaced the tstat, impeller and finally the circ pump. Still would randomly overheat (180) then it wont come off idle. COmputer shut it down. I removed the coolant temp sensor plug that the ecm used. The guage then went up to 190. I shut it down and replaced the sensor plug. Tried to start the motor and it was lockd up!!!
