might sound like an easy and dumb question. but how do i change the transmission fluid? and how much do i add and of what kind of fluid do i add?

Pick up one of these pumps and put in what you take out. My '08 holds 2 qts of ATF, check your manual for specifications. With this pump its an EASY job and only costs about $10 in fluid. The pump was about $70 which will pay for itself the first time you use it. My dealer wanted $135 to change the trans fluid.

i have that pump. so do i just drain it from the dip stick that you can pull out? and what typ of fluid do i put back in it?

Yes change it from the dip stick, and use ATF with Dexron III. Hope that helps.
