I was told it is normal for a v-drive to make a whinning nose when in reverse...is that true? does yalls whine?:confused:

Yea, mine makes a whining noise too, so does every v-drive I've ever driven I believe.

You transmission is going to blow! stop using it now.....just kidding.
yes, every inboard does that. It does not have to be a v-drive. My old direct drive did that too. So does my new v-drive. They all do it.

My new boat is so quiet I cant tell yet. Im so used to the old Saltare everything is so quiet now. Kinda weird. I wouldnt know if a belt was loose or anything.

my 09 vdrive is less noisy that my 99 dd was...but still whines a little........they just do it to let ya know they like going forward

It is it the reverse thrusters being deployed (like a jet).

DD's also wine,, its the tranny that wines I believe.....????
