I blew my old 5 channel amp so I'm looking into getting this MTX Thunder Marine 1805.

http://shop.mtx.com/p/l_45/MTX_Audio_TM1805___5_Ch_1800_Watt_Marine_Amplifier/listing.html

I will be running 4 Polk Audio MM651 inside the boat and also a 10" Sub woofer. I have a MTX Thunder running my tower speakers and they sound great. Plus I figured I'd match up the amps.

Any thoughts or does anyone have one? I can't seem to find any reviews on the net for this amp.

We've sold several of the MTX amps to customers, everyone seems to be happy with them. None have come back with problems either. That's about all I can tell you that I know.

Thanks Jony, Is 300 bucks new in box a good price for this amp?

Here is a great closeout site with MTX... not sure if it has exactly what you're looking for though

I have some credit at this place. So I'm in between the MTX.

or this JL M6450 6 channel...

They're both around 300 bucks. I know a lot of people in this forum use JL audio amps. Reading the specs I can bridge channels 5 and 6 for my sub but it will only put out about 90 watts compared to the 5th channel on the MTX thats puts out 150 watts.

I'd have to call and check on the price of that amp, but you're already talking about closeouts and buying from online hackjobs, so I'm not gonna waste my time. Those places are teh reason that car audio has gone to sh!t and the only local option you have in most towns is a Best Buy or some other chain store that has an automated answering service that won't let you talk to anybody.

My refrigerator crapped out today. There's a local appliance repair place that I called, they answered on second ring, and gave a good price. I tried calling Sears to ask about the part, and can't get through to anybody. So went to Sears where the fridge was bought from, and they're price was twice as high for repair, not to mention the guy there seemed to not know anything about it.

Point is, support your local car audio shops and quit buying from those hackjobs. You won't have any warranty buying from them by the way.
