I am shopping for a GPS unit I can use for the California Delta Waterways, I am going to start skiing on some of it (north area). Looking for one that will plot my route to and from, has tides, etc... anyone have a recommendation for a portable one to use in the Supra?

Thanks, Travis

I have an old school Garmin 76CS Map GPS. They don't make it any more but it works fine. I also have their U.S. nautical maps CD's for downloading to it. This has saved my bacon when on a unfamiliar waterway especially when my depth finder isn't working...and it's dark.... I haven't shopped around for GPS units in a while. I've always used Garmin, but I also know Magellan makes decent equipment from some of my friends. Also I've used the reviews from this site (http://gpsinformation.net/) before.

I installed a Humminbird 798ci and use the gps feature only. It works great and tracks much faster than others because it has 50 gps receivers, more than most others.

Garmin vista, with a suction window mount. Small, compact, user friendly. Works great.
