Had a little mishap over the weekend. As my friend GravityQueen likes to say..."It's the rule of the Supra...It's always something."

We visited a new lake over the weekend and was forced to use a... we will say ... less than perfect public boat launch. This launch happened to be in the opening to the main part of the lake so needless to say, it was a little rough. While attempting to trailer the boat a roller hit us from the rear which pushed the boat sideways against one of the guide poles. The impact was hard enough to crack the inner tubing of the guide pole. This in turn made a sharp edge on the tubing that ripped the guide pole cover and while getting the boat back to center this sharp edge managed to damage the gelcoat under the rubrail.

Can anyone give me some tips on ways to repair the scratches? I know I will need to get a kit and color match but I'm sure someone out there has some experience with this. PLEASE HELP!!!

That makes me very sad for you...I'd probably come close to crying were it my boat. I think he's right though...matching that orangey yellow would be really hard to do. However; don't count that out yet, you may find a good gelcoat guy who can do it!

Fingers crossed for you!

Wake Beater,

My boy KG hooked me up with the logos. I think you can get them from Supra.

The wife was. She knows her stuff though. She owned a Xstar before I met her. Not her fault.

Man that sucks Chad...

We got the same decals now, How much did they charge you for the set? I don't need them replaced right now, but I am teaching my son how to dock the boat so I figure it is only a matter of time.....

I picked them up from KG. He had a set that he wasn't using. I think he said they told him 800 at the dealer. It was hell putting them on. If Dusty didn't help me I would have messed them all up.

Wow Chad, that is a serious scratch. Let us know how the boat claim goes.

As for the stickers, it was a long process. The story is (from the dealer) it cost around 800 bucks, which thinking back, might also include the rear decal which i didnt get because i already had that font on the boat. It took them over 4 weeks to get the decals to me because supposedly they didnt have any of the black color. The dealer claimed SC had to have them remade and then sent to me. Who knows how much of that is true and how much of it is "dealer talk".

My advice would be to talk to a vinly shop, show them a pic, and see what they can do. I have a good reference for my area if needed.

Insurance covered it. To top it all off, when I made it home from the lake I found that the tower cracked at one of the welds. I guess it jarred so bad that it busted the weld. Insurance covered it as well. Luckily I know a welder that is going to take care of the tower. Got it all broke down now. Thinking about wrapping the boat now instead of repairing. Insurance gave me unough to pay for the wrap so its not all bad.

With the exception that the decals that everyone seemed to like just got wasted within weeks ... haha

Tell me about it. They were on there a short week. Maybe they don't have to pull them off. I'm not sure. If not, All isn't lost.
