Grab a pair of channel locks hold on tight and pull really hard. You can try and use the housing for the impeller as leverage. Usually change mine every spring and I'll place the handles of the channel lock on the impeller housing and pull back it will come out slowly but it moves. Good times. Line up the new one and push in.

Soak it in some WD-40 for about 10 minutes before and it will be much easier to remove.

Yeah use wd40 and yank! If you have an older supra make sure the housing on the back of the pump is on correctly or you will pump the exhaust thought the impeller and out the inlet and burn the pump up

Sounds like the pump is mounted backwards.

The pump should be mounted with the hoses on the block side.
