My boat is a 1991 sunsport with original engine. i have changed the fuel..and the filter. it runs well at low speeds but when i push it over 2000rpms it does not respond and does not go any faster what could be the problem

RPM limiters could be air restrictions, fuel restrictions, or ignition.

Check to make sure your engine compartment is well ventilated, that there are no obstructions in the air inlet ducts leading from the bow.

Make sure your fuel pump is capable of full capacity. Ensure that their are no obstructions in fuel supply lines. Make sure the fuel tank vent is clear.

How recent are the wires, plugs, cap, points and rotor? Is the timing correctly set (with timing light)?

plugs, yesterday.. wires are original...
the timing is right because it runs fine for 10 minutes then runs bad. aka not over 2000 rpms

Perhaps the ignition is not advancing as it should?

The vacuum advance canisters can fail. They control the advance behaviour. They are cheap and easy to replace. The centifigal counterweights may need lubrication as well.

How did you blow a hole in your oil pan?
