Hey guys, has anyone attempted any sort of DIY padding for their swim platform?? Ive got a 2000 Santera and the fiberglass platform when wet might as well be an ice rink! Ive got a couple ideas but not sure if theyd work, figured I'd ask you guys first!!!

I used Tuff Coat rubber non-skid coating from Overtons and have been really happy so far. SeaDeK is another good product.

I was actually thinking about possibly taking one of my girlfriends thinner yoga mats and getting some industrial spray adhesive. Theyre textured and non slip, just dont know if it would stick to the platform?!? I could trim it to the shape no problem.

Go with the Tuff Coat- leave the Yoga mat at the studio- those things are pourous (may have spelled that wrong)- they hold sweat, oil, water, etc...full of small holes. Besides, looks how money that platform on KY's boat looks. Even the custom goofy carve out of the right side. Nice one Steve. My girls an instructor and has tons of mats, green, orange, yellow- all nar colors for a platform. Deck tape for skate boards could also be used- available at most skate shops- Good luck treating the ice deck.

Thats actually the stock shape of the platform, it originally had the handrails going around but I took them off and installed the rubrail.

This might be a better angle

Hey KY how does that coating feel on your feet? is it retty rough? I'm trying to find something that a kid wont get chewed up when climbing back on the platform. Thats why i thought about the exercise mat idea, soft to the touch and supposedly prety durable

The photo angle fooled me on the up close shot. Ooops.

The nonskid is actually little pieces of rubber instead of sand like other coatings and bed liners, so its much softer. Not as soft as a foam pad but it doesn't hurt your feet or knees.

Time will tell how it holds up with boards scraping on and off it but so far it's held up great. But then again no mat or pad last forever and I figure if it does start showing some wear I can just roll on another layer, its very easy to apply.
