I have an 86 Comp ts6m and was wondering what the recommended materials were for the following:

Engine Oil (351)
Oil Filter (Part numbers a plus)
Tranny Fluid (Velvet drive I believe)

I am not sure what the previous owner had used in the boat... Thanks.

Normally the oil will be 10w-30 as far as i know, oil filter could be either

or
http://www.skidim.com/prodinfo.asp?number=R077002

and any dexron equivalent ATF transmission fluid will be fine.

10w -30 is too light, use 20w-50

After trying 4 types of oil, synthetic and non, the cheapest made my 351 run best. Shell Rotella 15w40. Available at Wal-Mart. Everyone has a preference in what they use, this works great for my old Ford.
I use ATF Dextron III in the Velvet drive. Available at Napa, Carquest. Matty- if you look by the tranny dipstick, just to the left there should be a label/tag with your tranny model, brand etc... If I had to guess, I would say Borg Warner 1-1 Velvet Drive. Good luck.
