Looking to run tower lights and speakers and wanted to get an answer on the best way to run speaker/power wires. I see no way but to drill the gelcoat. Is there another way and if not, what is the proper method of doing it? Do I need to drill from top down and if so, should I tape the area in question to prevent splintering? Any help you guys at Supra and the general public/community would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yep, drill away. to avoid splintering the gel coat, run the drill in reverse to get the hole started. you'll have to push a bit harder since the bit won't grab in reverse like it's designed to do in forward. just take it slow and easy. once it's started, switch to forward and finish it off.

i've heard of the tape trick but haven't tried it.

get some rubber grommets from radio shack or something to plug up the holes where the wires enter and some shrink wrap to really finish it all off.

Also start with a small bit and work your way up to the size hole that you need.
