Trying to find some cheap weight to add to my 2 450lb sacs for this weekend, trying to find some big jugs to hold water so I don't have to tow lead or concrete 8 hrs away....any thoughts??? Walmart has a 6 gallon jug for 10 bucks. Any idea what 6 gallons/23liters weighs?????

A gallon of water weighs 8.35 lbs, or something to that effect

I used rocks from a dam before. Pulled up loaded boat hit the wake. I also have used sand bags from Lowes. The tubes for traction in truck beds etc. Cheap weight. I also tried water bed tubes from walmart. I still used John Deere tractor weights. I get compliments on the green all the time. I also have used kegs. But eventually they dont weigh much. I also used plastic bins with used tire weights in them from a tire shop, worked good very heavy. I also poured concrete into plastic bins worked good and cheap also. These are just what I tried. My favorite so far was the damn rocks, they were abundent, and just get more as needed. They are now placed in my landscaping for good memories.

Hahaha!

I would go with jugs but bigger is better I used to use 12-14 5 gal jugs in an i/o 10-12 years ago. Annoying to have to use so many!

I would get a couple rubbermaid roughneck totes like 40gal and then use a pump to fill and drain. Get some pics bro!

You know, that might not be a bad idea. As long as he has a pump, get the kind with the lids that snap on to prevent them from popping off. One 40 gallon is gonna be about 335 pounds full to the top. I bet that would take up less room than all the jugs, since it would take roughly 7 to equal the weight of the one 40 gallon tote. Not to mention, easier to fill.

Careful Maple - I'm reminded of my favorite line outta Risky Business after they sink the 928 (showing my age) - "Who's the german u-boat commander?"

Good luck, have fun, & be safe.

Gonna add the weight slowly, photographing each phase I'd imagine. We'll be on a small calm lake in the North of Ontario, Hoping to be somewhere around 1500lbs I think.
My Contractor grade Rubbermaid 40 gal bins will be strong enough that we can lift them in and out ( for quick removal if necessary!) It'll be fun, would be very happy to surf my comp hull don't think that's happening too much!!!! We're comfy on the board, just need to build the ramp!!!!

Anyone fill up the floats tubers use (otherwise known as just tubes :/)with water? I'm tempted to try this but don't want it to bust!
