Question about exhaust

I've noticed in pics of other boats that on the back of the hull where the exhaust comes out that there are caps. My boat does not have those. Are they a check valve or just like a muffler?

Are you talking about the rubber flappers? If so, yeah they sort of work to prevent a mad rush of water from coming up the exhaust if you stop quick.

I think he's talking about the supertrapps. What kind of boat do you have and were they replaced with flaps?
